OUR HISTORY
Upper Room Fellowship was founded in 1994 by Pastor Sung Hyun Um as the first independent, English-speaking Korean-American SDA church.
The primary mission of Upper Room was to minister to the specific needs of 1.5 and 2nd generation Korean Americans, and to reclaim the “lost sheep of Israel” – those who grew up in the church but no longer attend.
It began to meet independently as a branch of the Rosemead Korean Church in January of 1995, and was organized as a company a year later by the Southern California Conference.
After Pastor Um’s retirement from Upper Room in 2013, the church is now pastored by Pastor Kevin Camato, former Associate Pastor from Living Word Fellowship, who recently obtained his M.Div. from Andrews University in 2014.
